Bio

Josie's career spans a diverse range of productions,

including short films, music videos, TV series, feature films,

documentaries, and commercials. She has collaborated with

renowned companies and channels such as BFI Films,

BBC, CBBC, The Weather Channel, TikTok, PlayStation,

4oD, Universal Records, and StudioCanal.

Originally from Anglesey, North Wales, Josie relocated to Manchester in 2008 to pursue acting studies. Her professional production journey began in 2013, a year before graduating from drama school, when she was offered her first assistant role on the feature film Ghost Ship (directed by Robert Young). Working closely with Robert Young provided her with invaluable insight into the industry’s fundamentals.

After graduating in 2014, Josie continued to work as an actor while expanding her expertise in production, creating, and managing small-scale projects including live performances and films for drama groups and educational institutions across the UK. Her dedication led to international opportunities, such as collaborating with Azusa Pacific University in Los Angeles on community projects involving over 200 students aged 8 to 16, where she produced two short films and co-directed a stage piece with local drama group and school for a large scale end of term project.

In addition to her hands-on industry work, Josie has been passionate about sharing her knowledge and experience. She has regularly delivered workshops and lectures at film and drama schools, helping aspiring filmmakers and actors develop their craft and understanding of the industry.

In 2015, Josie was appointed Director’s Assistant and off-set Associate Producer for the TV pilot Back in 2 Mins (starring Rob Norbury), working with director Nick Turnbull. This role helped her establish strong industry connections. She later served as a 3rd Assistant Director on the feature film Blank (directed by Natalie Kennedy), starring Rachel Shelley, Heida Reed, and Wayne Brady. Her proactive approach and networking skills led to further opportunities as an Assistant Director on various short films such as Lavender (dir. Andrew Ball-shaw), Tight Grasp (dir. Oliver Mitchell), and A War Poem (starring Freddie Fox, dir. Jordan Kelvin).

In 2019, Josie worked on the feature Bringing Back GoldenEye (directed by Daniel Guest) initially as 2nd Assistant Director. Following the successful completion of the first block, she was promoted to 1st Assistant Director for the remainder of the production — marking her first experience as a 1st AD on a feature film.

Since then, Josie has continued to support various productions, including serving as Assistant Production Coordinator on the Mister Mayfair trilogy and producing official music videos for Yorkshire band Yard Act (Island Records/Universal).

In 2021, Josie became a member of the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew, and in 2022, she joined BAFTA Connect. She actively leverages these networks to further develop her career and deepen her industry presence.
